Urban Ventures Announces a new CEO

     In 1993 Urban Ventures was established in south Minneapolis with the mission to break the cycle of generational poverty one person, one family at a time. The organization has been led by CEO, Art Erickson. Art along with co-founder Ralph Bruins had the vision and passion to see the potential of the Lake and 4th Street neighborhood. They saw beyond the crack houses and porn shops. This was a community in need of hope. Over the last nineteen years, Urban Ventures has assisted thousands of youth and adults in developing employment skills, achieving academic excellence and reconnecting with families. In addition to working with the people in the community, Urban Ventures has been a catalyst for econcomic growth in this area. The campus located at 4th Street and Lake has expanded over the years. It now includes the Colin Powell Youth Leadership Center, home to Urban Ventures and Cristo Rey Jesuit High School.

     As Urban Ventures enters its 20th year of service in south Minneapolis, the organization will be led by new CEO, Timothy Clark. Tim comes to Urban Ventures after nineteen years at CarVal Investors, a business unit of Cargill, Inc. Most recently Tim was a leader and executive team member of CarVal.Tim will be responsible for defining the next twenty years for Urban Ventures . "I am excited to continue the work in south Minneapolis and lead Urban Ventures. With the seasoned Leadership Team running our many programs, I believe we can make a big difference in this community in the years to come."

     Art Erickson's lifetime of community building and urban renewal expertise will serve as the cornerstone for STUDIOne-Eighty. As Urban Ventures' newest program, STUDIOne-Eighty under the direction of Art Erickson will provide other communities, cities, and countries the opportunity to learn what is required to address the challenges facing urban areas.
