3rd Annual Black History Month Talent Show

Celebrate Black history, culture and creativity at this fun event! This inspiring, family friendly & free event brings the community together to honor the past, celebrate the present and look forward to the future through the power of art and performance.

SCHEDULE:
5:30 PM DOORS OPEN / ARTIST CHECK-IN
5:30 PM - 6:30 PM FREE FOOD WILL BE AVAILABLE
6:00 PM TALENT SHOW BEGINS
7:30 PM OPEN MIC BEGINS

Together, let’s honor the culture, share artistic gifts and pay tribute to those who came before us. We can’t wait to see you there!

Registration is open — students and adults can sign up below! Mark your calendar and invite your friends and family to this unforgettable evening. The deadline to RSVP is Tuesday, February 17th


PERFORMER EXPECTATIONS

  • Student Talent Show (Ages 18 & Below): Students under 18 are invited to showcase their talents in a vibrant celebration of creativity and culture. From music and dance to spoken word and more, the stage is yours!

  • Artist Prompts: All artists are encouraged to address one of four thoughtful prompts, ensuring their performances resonate with the spirit of Black History Month.

  • Prizes: Talent show performers will have the chance to win prizes based off of their performance and use of the “Artist Prompt” of their choosing.

  • Open Mic Session (Ages 18+): After the talent show, adults are welcome to join in an open mic session to share their artistry and voices.

ARTIST PROMPTS

  1. Name an event or person from the last 100 years that most influenced how we celebrate Black history today?

  2. In your opinion, what Black achievements, people or stories don’t get enough attention?

  3. Choose an artist from the Harlem Renaissance period that inspires you. How would you honor them?

  4. How do you think Black culture has positively influenced media, language, music or trends?
