Our Core Values
These values drive everything we do at Urban Ventures.
We are Moved by Faith.
The example of Jesus shapes our work and compels us to love our neighbor. We strive to make our neighborhood one that reflects the justice and love that characterize God’s design for the world.
Faith is not static; it calls us to act.
We Believe in People.
Our neighbors are leaders and change-makers. We walk alongside them, listening, learning, and working hard together. Donors, volunteers, and partners join us as co-laborers.
Real change is not handed out; it's built together.
We Adapt with Purpose.
We stay rooted in our mission but flexible in our methods. With resilience and humility, we innovate and grow, even when the road is difficult.
When needs change, we change too.
We Bring Our Best.
We approach our work with excellence, honoring the people we serve and stewarding the gifts we’ve been given. We act with honesty and integrity.
We choose what is right over what is easy.
We Carry Hope.
We plant seeds of hope in tough soil, trusting they will grow. Along the way, we celebrate victories, share laughter, and cultivate a joy that strengthens our community.
Hope is not wishful thinking; it is hard work.
What does it mean that Urban Ventures is a faith-based organization?
Urban Ventures is a faith-based organization. Our work is inspired by the example of Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Bible. When Jesus commanded us to love our neighbor, it wasn’t a suggestion. It was a mandate we fully embrace. Loving our neighbor takes on many shapes, forms, and expressions. But it never takes on the form of exclusion, hostility, or judgment.
We exist to serve with love and compassion, freely given without expectation. We believe that by serving others well we embody the values of joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and composure. Each of these fosters a sense of unity in our neighborhood and positive and lasting growth in our community.
Our faith leads us to action; we strive to make our neighborhood one that reflects the justice and love that characterize God’s design for the world.
