Childcare for Effective Parenting Seminar
We are looking for volunteers to help provide childcare for children 1 to 15 years old while their parents attend a seminar. Lessons for the day will be planned but we need teachers to implement lessons and activities for the day and lunch will be provided.
Specific Date: Saturday, October 19
Time Commitment: 8:30am - 11:30am OR 11:30am - 2:30pm
VOLUNTEER WITH YOUTH
After School Program
The After School program is an academic-based after-school program where students in grades 1-5 receive literacy support and homework help to stay on track in school. The program also focuses on developing character and healthy peer relationships. Support is provided in both English and Spanish.
Specific Days: Monday - Thursday
Time Commitment: Mondays & Wednesdays | 2:30-5:15 pm
Tuesdays & Thursdays | 3:30-6:30 pm
CFF: Children's Program
The Center for Families (CFF) provides 20-week classes that equip parents to build strong, healthy families. While parents are in class, children learn and have fun in a safe, interactive, and educational environment. We look for volunteers who can help implement already prepared lesson plans for the children.
Specific Days: Wednesdays
Time Commitment: 5:30-8 pm
High School Mentor
Serve as a mentor and walk alongside youth in both life and faith.
Create deep and personal relationships through mentoring, supporting, and loving student’s throughout life's circumstances. Introducing students to Christ and helping them grow in their faith.
Specific Days: Mondays or Thursdays 6-8 pm, plus weekly meetings with mentees for 1-2 hours
Time Commitment: 4-6 hours/week
Urban Ventures Athletics (UVA) facilitates long lasting relationships where we are growing and developing the athletes mind, body and spirit. Basketball and soccer coaches use leadership, supervisory, and teaching skills to develop players and teams, build relationships and support each team's head couch.
Specific Days: Weeknights 5-8 pm. Occasional weekends
Time Commitment: Practice twice a week for 2 hours, games twice a week. Occasional tournaments
CFF: Children's Reading Program
Volunteers will help assess students on their reading fluency and comprehension skills. Volunteers will attend a 30 minute training on how to assess students and will be assigned a list of students to assess and record the results.
Specific Days: Wednesdays from 6-7:30 pm
Time Commitment: 7 weeks from Aug - Nov (2 times a month)
Music Academy & Recording Studio
The Music Academy & Recording Studio (M.A.R.S.) is looking for volunteers who enjoy spending time with kids and can help our music classes run smoothly. Duties may include playing games, serving food or setting up or tearing down for the night.
Specific Days: Choose a day Monday - Thursday
Time Commitment: 6-7:30 pm
