All Sewn Up

After 10 weeks of learning and practice, 24 women completed the Sewing and Alterations class through Siempre Padres.

Each week, they came together to build practical skills in sewing, mending, and tailoring. These tools create new opportunities. Whether launching a side business, saving money on household needs, or helping a neighbor with a quick fix, their new skills open up new opportunities and incomes sources.

To celebrate the final class, one of the graduates decorated a cake celebrating these “Emprendedoras Urban” (Urban Ventures Business Women).

The class was a pilot program this year, and a huge success. The participants were eager to learn sewing skills. Some had even dreamed about it since childhood. Meanwhile, the waitlist quickly grew to nearly 100 women, all hoping for the same opportunity to grow.

The next class is already scheduled for the fall. With your help, we can open it to even more women on the waitlist. Consider making a donation to Urban Ventures today so we can bring these opportunities to even more of our neighbors, allowing them to create even greater opportunities for themselves.
