Announcing Urban Ventures' new President & CEO
We are delighted to share exciting news with you. After an extensive search, the Urban Ventures Board of Directors unanimously and enthusiastically invited Erica Schimelpfenig to serve as the next President and CEO of Urban Ventures.
If the name sounds familiar, that’s because Erica joined Urban Ventures six months ago as Vice President of Programs. “I certainly wasn’t anticipating Dave’s departure so soon after I arrived,” Erica said. “But as I prayed and considered the role, it became clear that perhaps this was why I was here. I am so excited to lead this organization that I have fallen in love with and to work alongside the passionate and talented people who serve our community.”
Erica’s selection followed an extensive national search. The Urban Ventures Board partnered with Ballinger | Leafblad to manage the process, narrowing thousands of interested candidates to a half dozen strong contenders. Board Chair Gaylen Knack shared, “We had many strong candidates, but after our interview with Erica, we looked at each other and said, ‘I think we found our person.’”
With more than 20 years of leadership experience in the nonprofit sector, including over seven years as a CEO, Erica has demonstrated exceptional effectiveness and a deep commitment to empowering communities. Her strategic approach and compassionate leadership make her an excellent choice to lead the next era at Urban Ventures.
