Every year, Juneteenth marks the day freedom finally reached everyone it was promised to. It's a day worth knowing about, and a day worth celebrating together.
On Thursday, June 18, Urban Ventures is hosting its annual Juneteenth Celebration at the Colin Powell Center (2924 4th Ave S, Minneapolis) from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
The event is free and open to everyone. Bring your family, bring your friends, bring your block. All neighbors welcome.
There will be time to learn more about the history and meaning of the holiday, plus free food from a food truck, games, a basketball shooting contest, a live performance from Step With Soul, and a raffle with prizes including a TV giveaway. No RSVP needed. Just show up.
