Memo: Family Transformation! 6.25.18
Hello UV family,
This past Saturday, Siempre Padres staff had the opportunity to attend the wedding of two participants, Omar and Daniela.
Omar and Daniela first came to Urban Ventures three years ago, looking for help in different areas, including emotional support to help restore their relationship. They were a blended family—both had children from previous relationships—and had unhealed issues from those relationships.
During their time in Siempre Padres, they participated in couple’s therapy, support groups, couples retreats, and they took advantage of many hours of one-on-one support where they were confronted, exhorted, loved, and held accountable.
For the past two years, Omar and Daniela have also been attending the same church as our colleague Myrna, who first invited them there.
Despite the setbacks and challenges they have suffered in life, Omar and Daniela are a couple determined to offer their children the family stability and support that they deserve.
This past Saturday, we were honored to witness a very important milestone in their lives as they publicly declared their commitment to themselves and their children during their wedding ceremony.
The most memorable moment was seeing their children get emotional during the ceremony because they now have the stability in their lives that they always needed, and their parents are setting a high standard for their children of what a healthy and committed relationship should look like.
Please keep the family of Omar and Daniela in your prayers as well as their children: Ashley, Jazmin, Alexa, and Alexander.
The photos I’ve included are of Omar and Daniela at their Siempre Padres graduation and then at their wedding. If you look closely at the wedding photo, you can see that one of their daughters is holding the photo from the graduation!
We often do not get to see the fruit of our work, but moments like this show us that what we do is not done in vain. We must continue doing our best and God will take care of the rest.
