Video: The Urban Ventures Farm

Tucked into the heart of our neighborhood, the Urban Ventures Farm is a place where good things grow. This short video captures a slice of what happens here every week and why it matters to families, students, and neighbors of all ages.

Urban Ventures is home to the largest urban farm in Minneapolis.

Every week, neighbors stop by to learn, volunteer, or bring home fresh produce at no cost. Parents tell us it makes a real difference as grocery prices rise and budgets get tighter. Vegetables are usually the first thing squeezed out of a family’s shopping list. At the farm, they’re the first thing added back in.

Learning in the Soil

During the school year and through the summer, more than 200 children visit the farm each week. Preschoolers pull carrots straight out of the ground and turn them into simple recipes they make themselves. High school students volunteer in the fields and later join our paid internships, gaining skills and confidence as they head into college and careers.

Food companies spend millions encouraging kids to choose what isn’t good for them. The farm gives healthy food a fighting chance. Here, fruits and vegetables feel fun, familiar, and accessible.

A Community Table

The farm stand has become a hub for families across the neighborhood. One mom shared that her children had only ever seen farms in movies. When they held a chicken for the first time, they came home talking nonstop about everything they learned. For her, seeing vegetables grow in real life made her kids more excited to try them at home.

Stories like hers are why the farm matters. It brings people together, builds healthier habits, and makes good food possible for families who need it.

How to Get Involved
